Originally from Denmark, born to Danish/New Zealand parents, Louise studied graphic design in London and Amsterdam, before moving to Sydney to write a PhD. She currently lives in Northern New South Wales, Australia.
After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam Louise worked for a book designer, and also worked doing freelance graphic design. In Australia she undertook her PhD studies, which focused on taboo in graphic design, specifically in relation to Australian HIV prevention campaigns. She has in the past years been teaching graphic design and information graphics at the University of New South Wales, and more recently visual communication at Southern Cross University.
Her research interest is particularly focused on controversial visual representations and social marketing. Momentarily she is in the process of writing a book about the visual culture of sex education aimed at children and teens.
